Customary/Standard system - system of measurement in the United States. 3. meter (m) - a metric unit used to measure length. 1 meter = 100 centimeters 4. inch (in.) - a customary unit used to measure length. 12 inches = 1 foot 5. foot (ft) - a customary unit used to measure length. 1 foot = 12 inches; 3 feet = 1 yard 6. cup (c) - a customary unit of measure used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 2 cups = 1 pint; 4 cups = 1 quart; 16 cups = 1 gallon 7. fluid ounce (fl oz) - a unit of liquid volume in the customary system that equals 1/8 cup or 2 tablespoons. 8. pint (pt) - a customary unit used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 1 pint = 2 cups 9. quart (qt) - a customary unit used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 1 quart = 4 cups = 2 pints 10. gallon (gal) - a customary unit used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 1 gallon = 4 quarts = 8 pints = 16 cups 11. liter (L) - a metric unit used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 1 liter = 1,000 milliliters 12. milliliter (mL) - a metric unit used to measure liquid volume (capacity). 1,000 milliiliters = 1 liter 13. liquid volume - a measure of how much a container can hold.
